Richard James Kubik

September 17, 1953 – September 4, 2024

From the Family of Richard James Kubik:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Richard James Kubik, an amazing husband, father, and leader.

Rick was a dedicated and valued member to his ARK and WCCT teams and was a talented and experienced Controller, supporting various industries with growth and personal success over his long career. He was a trusted advisor and friend to many and enjoyed the simple things in life, like spending time with his family.

Anyone who knew Rick knew of his love and passion for trains. It was Rick’s desire to spend his retirement years on the rails and devoting time to actively engage with the train and rail community. Unfortunately Rick did not get an opportunity to do so before his passing.

“When the train of life goes through a dark tunnel, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off… You sit and trust the Conductor.”

In his memory, We have set up this page, along with the Orange County Model Engineers, for those who would like to make a donation in his memory to help keep the trains running.

Orange County Model Engineers (OCME) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the art of live steam and large-scale model railroading. Operating the Mackerel Flats and Goathill Junction Railroad, OCME provides free public train rides on the third full weekend of every month through the scenic Fairview Park in Costa Mesa. The club offers a fun and educational experience for families and train enthusiasts, encouraging community engagement and fostering a love for engineering and rail history. In addition, OCME hosts special events and meets, providing a valuable recreational service to the local community.

All donations support the club’s operation and many community missions. Donation letters are available by contacting info@ocmetrains.org.
